I am a qualified Proofreader and Copy Editor holding a Diploma in those skills and have considerable experience of on-screen and hard-copy proofing and editing. My UK clients have included the Cambridge-based publishing house of Pegasus Elliot Mackenzie, for which I have proofed a number of novels. And I continue to proof and edit a series of training manuals, workbooks and assessment records for ICS/Cengage of Scotland (formerly Books for Learning Ltd., Cheshire).
Internationally, I have been commissioned by clients of Algora Publishers in New York to edit books aimed at the academic market; edited theses for students in Switzerland; and I have edited and rewritten papers by non-native English speakers in Asia.
In addition to this, I am registered with a large number of publishing houses in Britain and Ireland. I am familiar with the intricacies of American English and welcome any commissions from around the world. Chicago Manual of Style compliance accepted.
I offer a choice of services: For typesetters, printers and publishers I can make corrections using the most up-to-date British Standards Institute marks, or the US equivalent, coloured appropriately depending on who is required to make the corrections; or, for the author inexperienced in such matters, I can annotate the typescript in red and provide a report setting out the changes and giving the reasons for same, where necessary.
For on-screen work, I recommend using the Track Changes function in Microsoft Word so that you can see exactly what work has been carried out.
